I mcGyver'd my old chair bag made of coated cavas. I cut this up and extended the back of my seat so that I could fix some of the issues with my seat back. One thing I know for sure is that my sewing machine needs to be oiled. Sewing through the glue for the industrial strength Velcro gums up the needle and makes sewing very difficult. Any rate some rubbing alcohol and patience I got it cleaned out. Ran out of sunlight to get the Velcro mounted in the bottom of the seat. I did a test fit sitting in it and still the same issue. The bottom slides forward off the seat. Had to have Velcro. Once that is in I think it will hold and stay up on entry.
Huge Risk #2. I took my el cheapo tent "from a brand name manufacturer" from Sportsmansguide.com,that well for whatever reason canceled their order for tents, and applied for the first time permanent waterproofing from atsko.com. The trick here is one you have to have a clean DETERGENT residue free article in this case the tent. So since it has never been used, I applied it. Then you have to either use a iron, blow dryer, or put in the dryer at the highest heat possible. I ended up going timed dry on low for 20 minutes. This apparently aligns the polymer chains on top of the nylon so water beads and falls off.
All of this "insurance" will make sure that it doesn't rain on the whole trip. Right now www.intellicast.com has a great forecast for Bayfield,Wi. Since we are touring Mawikwe Bay caves on sunday:
